Colonial Bed Chamber

This simple Colonial Bedchamber represents what a typical early American room might have resembled. The fireplace wall was panneled with shelves and cupboards built in . The wainscotting around the room was typical and the upper walls of this room were hung with fabric that matched the bed hangings. This fact suggests that this household was fairly well off as that aount of woven fabric woiuld have had to have been imported from England...a costly proposition. The four poster bed is mahogany and the matching candle stands are turned dowels with face turned tops. The blanket chest features traditional stencil designs. All of the paitings in the room are original oils . I did  lot of painting in high school and college so reducing the scale to 1/12 was not terribly difficult.
